The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald
Scribner pg. 4
I've been reading for as long as I can remember, but there is only one book that really kicked off my passion for reading and that was Harry Potter. I refer to as my gateway book.

Sadly I got sucked in by all the hype. It's on everyone's best selling and I had to know why. So I picked it up and was instantly disappointed. I don't mind Erotica. It is what it is. I just thought that maybe this book had more to it than just sex. I was so wrong. The characters are cliched, have no redeeming qualities, and frankly are quite annoying. Most of all though the author butchers the English language. I know I can't write so I don't pretend that I can but she does. Using words that are big to sound smart and being wordy without purpose. I couldn't finish this book and I don't often just stop in a middle of a book. I am sad to think that this is what the populace wants and demands. It has outsold classics like Dune and Catch 22 and even children's books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Cat in the Hat. I would only recommend this to demonstrate bad writing.
